I painted these two paintings a couple of months after that, when my visiting brother and I had taken a road trip. It started in San Diego and ended in San Antonio, Texas, eleven days later. San Diego, Los Angeles, Mormon Bay, San Francisco, Lake Tahoe, Yellowstone, Las Vegas, Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Santa Fe, and then home to San Antonio. If you are familiar with my way of painting, not setting out to paint anything specific, you understand how these two paintings came to be.
